PBD Ltd is a specialist training provider operating in the early years environments of childcare and out of school clubs. But for owners Ross and Alison Midgley this only came about following the sale of their Crocus Nursery business in 2007, which looked after more than 200 children across three sites in the Saffron Walden area.
So when a day nursery just 50 yards from their office was slipping towards closure it made sense to make best use of their expertise and save the business via a rapid-response turnaround plan that spanned redecoration, refurbishment and rebranding.
The result is a professionally run day nursery in the village of Steeple Bumpstead that can accommodate 42 children in a quiet rural setting with easy access but offset from main roads. Parents are delighted, staff are highly motivated and the children are jumping for joy – or fast asleep, depending on the time of day!
It wasn’t just The Blois Meadow Day Nursery that got a makeover. The Briefing Room delivered new branding, literature, signage and a website was up within days of contracts being signed.
Commenting on the project Ross Midgley said, “Chris and his team of have worked with me for the last couple of years helping to bring clarity, cohesion and creativity to the PBD marketing process. I am absolutely delighted with the new nursery identity which works brilliantly across uniforms, badges, signage and all our marketing materials. It was a bit of a ‘Challenge Chris’ scenario but he didn’t disappoint – as usual.”
Briefing Room owner Chris Ellis said “We love projects like this. The emotional connection to the branding is so important for everyone involved. The hand-drawn illustrative logo has freestyle, child-like elements that are carried through to the website and literature to create distinctive, friendly and engaging support materials. These are key attributes we wanted to communicate to prospective parents. It’s rewarding helping to save a business and I look forward to watching this small but perfectly formed brand grow into another successful venture for Ross and Alison.”
If you are looking for childcare in the Haverhill / Steeple Bumpstead area the nursery has an Open Day this Saturday (November 17th). Parents and children are welcome between 10am and 3pm - no appointment necessary.
