EACH supports families and cares for children and young people with life-threatening conditions across Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk. As well as raising valuable funds, Birketts’ staff also assisted at the charity’s Milton hospice’s memory day, which provides bereaved families with the opportunity to visit the hospice and to remember and celebrate the life of their child.
Clare Hedges, associate and CSR committee representative for Birketts’ Cambridge office, said: “After our fundraising drive to celebrate the firm’s 150th anniversary in 2013, the Cambridge office decided to continue the approach of supporting a Charity of the Year. EACH was chosen as our charity for 2014. We are delighted to have raised a grand total of £2,350 for this great cause, thanks to dress down days and other fundraising activities through the year, including £750 raised by a team of intrepid golfers, who took on the 100 hole golf challenge led by Stefan Harris-Wright. Colleagues in our Cambridge office also enjoyed spending their 2014 CSR day at the Milton hospice, when they took a day out from their usual roles to help prepare the hospice grounds for the annual Memory Day in September.”
Karen Newton, EACH Cambridgeshire Fundraiser, said: “I’m delighted to receive this wonderful amount from the Cambridge office of Birketts. This donation represents a year of dedication by staff who have not only taken part in a wide variety of fundraising activities but also given up their time to volunteer in the Milton Hospice grounds and gardens to ensure they’re in perfect condition whenever families visit. On behalf of the children, young people and families that we care and support, thank you to the whole team at Birketts.”
Birketts recently received an award for its corporate social responsibility work at the prestigious Pride of Essex Awards.
