St Mary’s Headmistress joins the board of directors for ICGS

Headmistress of St Mary's School, Cambridge, Ms Charlotte Avery, has been appointed to the governing board of directors for The International Coalition of Girls’ Schools (ICGS) - bringing her extensive education expertise and insights to the Coalition as it engages in its important work of advancing girls’ education globally.

St Mary’s School, Cambridge Headmistress, Charlotte Avery, has been appointed to the governing board of directors for The International Coalition of Girls’ Schools (ICGS) - bringing her extensive education expertise and insights to the Coalition as it engages in its important work of advancing girls’ education globally.

Charlotte will serve three –year terms on the ICGS board alongside three other forward-thinking appointments, including: Nicole Hood, Director of Upper School, The Bryn Mawr School, Baltimore; Jennifer Landis, Head of School, Oak Knoll School of the Holy Child, Summit, New Jersey; and the reappointment of Liz Schmitt, who is the Chief Enrolment and Student Affairs Officer at Miss Porter’s School in Farmington, Connecticut. The four ICGS Governing Directors join 16 other girls’ school educators from around the world in guiding the vision, purpose, principles and practices of the Coalition.

 

Commenting on her appointment, Charlotte said: “I am honoured to join the board of directors for the ICGS and I look forward to helping further champion the benefits of an all-girls education on a global scale. At St Mary’s we enable our girls to build self-confidence, alongside the knowledge and skills they need to reject and overcome gender stereotypes. Within Cambridge, our all-girls offering is unique and we are proud to provide a space where gender stereotypes cannot thrive, which is vital if we want to encourage girls to take the lead. I look forward to providing my counsel and insight to the Coalition as it undertakes its important work.”
