Stone King recognised as a leading law firm in respected legal directory

National law firm Stone King has once again been recognised as a top-tier law firm by independent directory Legal 500. The firm, which has offices at Bateman House in Hills Road, continues to hold top rankings for its expertise in education law and the charity and social enterprise sector, with high rankings across other practice areas and for outstanding lawyers.

Stone King’s leading team of education lawyers are described as “a first port of call for both state-funded and independent schools, as well as the key national education agencies and intermediaries”. The publication also comments on the team’s ability to advise on “niche matters” and highlights that the practice is “particularly noted for its further education expertise” at a regional and national level, led by Tom Morrison. Among numerous lawyers highlighted for their expertise are sector head Roger Inman, based in Cambridge, and Partner Graham Burns, who are ranked as leading individuals.

The firm’s Charity and Social Enterprise Team is “well-regarded for its work with educational charities and charities that work with young people”, with expertise in working with “military charities, heritage, arts and museums, as well as increasingly livery companies and City corporations.” Sector head Tim Rutherford is highlighted as a leading individual with “particular expertise in working with faith organisations”, alongside Julian Blake and Robert Meakin, with decades of experience between them. Stone King chairman Ann Phillips and Consultant Jonathan Burchfield remain in the publication’s Hall of Fame for receiving “constant praise” from clients, with Reema Mathur, Hannah Kubie and Alexandra Steffensen also singled out.

Stone King’s Immigration team, led by Julie Moktadir from the firm’s Cambridge office, earns a high ranking in the 2020 edition of The Legal 500 in recognition of the team’s expertise and growing workload, whilst key members of the Employment Team are highlighted, including Polly O’Malley, Tim Tyndall and Dr John McMullen, who joined the firm’s Leeds office in January 2019.

The firm, which has a network of offices in Cambridge, Leeds, London, Birmingham and headquarters in Bath, also ranks highly for its expertise across real estate, crime, commercial property and commercial litigation, with the directory commenting that the firm “excels in assisting corporate and individual clients with alternative dispute resolution, which complements its strong credentials in litigation”.

The firm’s Private Client practice is also ranked for its experience in family matters, as well as its extensive work in personal tax, trusts and probate, including international and cross-border probate and successions matters.

Managing Partner Steven Greenwood (pictured) said: “I’m delighted with the recognition we continue to receive both for our dedication to clients and our expertise. It is testament to the experience and professionalism of our outstanding lawyers.”
