A Cambridge law firm is holding a seminar on March 19 to help businesses deal with grievances.

The event, called Taking the Grief out of Grievance, is aimed at business, charity and education leaders as well as HR professionals, and will show the necessary steps to handle a grievance effectively.

Led by Bryan Chapman and Tim Tyndall, it will also explore some of the complexities that can develop including overlap with conduct, capability and how to approach a grievance if an employee has already resigned.

Bryan is a Senior HR Consultant while Tim is a Consultant, both at Stone King.

The seminar will also outline the benefits of mediation as an alternative route to conflict resolution.

The session will combine both presentations and the application of practical case studies, including:

  • A deeper understanding of what a grievance is and the purpose of conducting grievance hearings
  • Familiarity with the key points from the ACAS Code of Practice
  • An understanding of how effective mediation can resolve conflict and minimise the need for formal procedure
  • Knowledge of how to hold an informal and formal grievance hearing and appeals process

The event will run from 9.30am to 12pm, and will take place at Stone King LLP, 3/F Bateman House, 82-88 Hills Road, Cambridge CB2 1LQ
