It is the first year Anglia Ruskin has entered the WOW awards, which aim to raise standards of customer service by recognising staff and organisations that go out of their way to be helpful.
Dr Bouchard, Principal Lecturer in Drama and Course Group Leader for Music and Performing Arts at Anglia Ruskin, has been nominated in the WOW! That’s Really Special category.
Anglia Ruskin University has been shortlisted for Best Newcomer alongside Balfour Beatty, Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Inverclyde Leisure and South Devon Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
A testimony from Victoria Bell, one of Dr Bouchard’s students, said: “Gianna has always provided me with an open door and a positive attitude towards my studies. She is a lecturer who respects her students and in turn, they respect her back.
“She can always be relied upon to give professional and truthful advice and I have learnt so much from her. I truly look up to her as a hero and role model.”
Dr Bouchard said: “Victoria’s nomination is very generous and quite humbling. We try to encourage students to reach their full potential and often this involves giving them the confidence to see their strengths and act on them, possibly in ways that surprise and challenge them.
“The best reward in this job is to see students flourish and start to nourish a deep love of their subject and learning that they take forward to new environments and encounters.”
Judging will take place on Monday, 8 September before award winners are named at a gala ceremony at the Brewery, East London on 24 November.
In 2009, Dr Bouchard received a Vice Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Student Experience at Anglia Ruskin. Last year, she was nominated for a Made a Difference Award by the Students’ Union.
