In her regular series for Cambridge Network members - now in its 15th year - software training expert Karen Roem offers handy tips to help you 'Tame your computer'. This week she describes how to make your text cursor easier to spot in Word and Outlook.

Here’s another new, dinky setting you can change in Windows 10, which will make your text cursor bigger and more colourful. I find it particularly helpful in Word and Outlook where you might have a lot of text.

Try it out and see what I mean.

Here's how:

  1. Press the Windows (WIN) key and type text cursor colour.

  2. Make sure Change text cursor colour and size is selected and press ENTER

  3. If necessary, turn the text cursor indicator On.

  1. Select a colour or Pick a custom colour. (Mine is obviously orange ;) What’s yours?)

  2. Drag the slider anywhere from 1 to 5.

  3. Close the window, as normal. (ALT + F4, anyone?)
