Tickets still available for special festive concert in aid of children's charity

Tickets are still available for a special festive concert featuring the Cambridge musical phenomenon We Are Sound and percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie this Thursday (19 December).

The Light Up EACH Life Concert, in aid of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH), will be held at Great St Mary’s Church, Senate House Hill in Cambridge, with the festive performance beginning at 7.30pm.

Performances on the night will come from Cambridge based music group We Are Sound who will be using around 120 vocalists and instrumentalists. Andrea Cockerton, founder of We Are Sound explains: “We are hard at work on our set list to provide a festive filled musical experience for our audience. We Are Sound like to blur the lines between fans and band so there may well be some audience participation – this promises to be a euphoric music experience you won’t forget!

“Whether you’re a regular at our gigs or you’ve never seen us before, we’d love to see you in this spectacular venue to help get you into the Christmas spirit! We’re thrilled to be supporting EACH through this concert so please do come along to support this worthy cause.”

The evening will also feature a guest appearance from Scottish virtuoso percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie (pictured above, credit Caroline Purday).

Evelyn has been profoundly deaf since the age of 12 and has taught herself to hear with parts of her body other than her ears. She tours extensively and performed at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in London 2012.

Dame Evelyn Glennie said: “I am delighted to be supporting EACH by participating in the Light up EACH Life concert with the wonderful We Are Sound. The dedication of all who are connected with EACH is valued beyond words and I want to be sure that all children and their families continue to be given the best care and attention possible.”

EACH will also be hosting a drinks reception before the concert starting at 5.45pm in the world-famous Debating Chamber in Cambridge. Guests will have chance to see inside this strictly members only venue and hear from keynote speakers including comedian Griff Rhys Jones about the support they provide to EACH.

Following the reception a procession will be led down Trinity Street to Great St Mary’s Church, holding lanterns created by children who use services through EACH passing iconic Cambridge landmarks lit up in purple and orange. Reception guests will have the best seats in the house for the Light Up EACH Life Concert.

Both events form part of the Light Up EACH Life campaign which celebrates the life of every child and family EACH cares for. Light Up EACH Life will run throughout December with a range of events and ways that people can show their support.

Tickets for the Light Up EACH Life Concert are on sale now with prices starting at just £10. Tickets for the reception and concert are also available now, priced at £50.
