Anglia Ruskin has been shortlisted for the Times Higher Education’s Leadership and Management Awards in the Outstanding Administrative Services Team category. The bid will go up against University of Birmingham, Coventry University, Edge Hill University, University of Sheffield and University of Warwick.
In 2009 a major project to rationalise and improve timetabling systems was started, involving investment in new software and making significant changes to business processes.
Improvements made include “live” timetables available on the web and an app and e-mail alerts if a change is made. Timetables are in place in July, at least six weeks before teaching starts and room bookings can be made online, with 18,244 online bookings made in 2013/14.
The success of the new system has led to visits from other institutions to Anglia Ruskin to learn good practise.
Kirsteen Williams, Timetabling and Rooming Manager, said: “Over the past six years we have worked extremely hard to improve our timetabling systems. With students’ needs at the forefront of our minds, we have had the support of colleagues, faculties and academic staff to transform our services and we have seen that it is appreciated.
“We are thrilled to have been shortlisted for this national award as it is fantastic to be recognised for the hard work that everyone has put in.”
The winners of the Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards will be announced on Thursday, 18 June.
