Top-tier Chambers recognition for Cambridge law firm Stone King

Cambridge law firm Stone King LLP retains the highest possible ranking for its UK-wide education and charity teams, plus recognition across other practice areas.

Stone King has again received recognition as a top tier firm in the 2019 edition of prestigious legal directory Chambers UK, launched on 2 November. The firm retains the highest possible ranking for its UK-wide education and charity teams, with recognition across other practice areas and 13 of its lawyers ranked individually for their expertise.

The directory describes Stone King as a “top-quality national education practice with strong experience advising independent and state schools” with one client saying: “first and foremost they are excellent lawyers – they know the charity and education sectors really well”. Among the practitioners individually ranked in the firm’s education team are Head of Sector Roger Inman, who is praised for his “outstanding technical and commercial awareness of developments within the education sector”, and Partner Steven Ravenscroft and Partner Julian Blake.

The law firm also has offices in Bath, Birmingham, Leeds and London.

Stone King’s leading charity and social enterprise team continues to be recognised as “a front-runner in the field acting for all types of charities” and “frequently seen working for household name organisations on some of the largest projects in the sector”. Chambers UK 2019 highlights numerous notable practitioners in the charity team. Among them, Stone King’s Chairman Ann Phillips, of whom it says: “She is distinguished by her market insight and client-focused approach” and Jonathan Burchfield who is “well regarded for his knowledge and insight of the sector”. It also recognises the “efficient” Robert Meakin and the “very good” Hannah Kubie.

Alexandra Steffensen is a Star Associate, and Reema Mathur and Harriet Broughton are named Associates To Watch. 

Stone King is also recognised across further practice areas, including Real Estate and Transport.

Andrew Banks and Peter Woodhouse are “notable practitioners” in the Transport sector, while the Family/Matrimonial team is described as “highly respected” with one client referring to them as “supportive, efficient and friendly”. 

Hugh Pearce in the Real Estate sector is noted as “client-focused and a clear communicator”.
