Following an engagement and trials over the past 12 months, both companies have agreed to work together to deploy an integrated automotive logistics solution to new and existing customers, built on the Ubisense Real-time Intelligence Platform. The solution will be deployed on sites at large scale Asian ports and leading automotive OEMs.
The integrated logistics application is an extension of the Ubisense Smart Factory suite of applications, which improves processes in all the activities of automotive manufacturers including final assembly online and offline, in-bound and production logistics. The revenue impact is not expected until 2014.
In a further boost to Ubisense's presence in Asia, the company is pleased to note forthcoming changes to Japanese radio regulations which will allow use of its products in the Japanese market from 2014. The changes follow significant investment in product development and engagement with the Japanese regulatory body (MIC).
Richard Green, Ubisense Chief Executive Officer, commented: "With such a high proportion of vehicles manufactured in Asia, this partnership with the leading automotive logistics provider in the region will enable us to extend our reach, while increasing the value our customers derive from our end to end solutions. As we look to expand our presence within the highly important Asian market, we are excited about the strategic opportunities this partnership will afford coupled with regulatory changes enabling use of our products in the Japanese market."
