Arthur Rank Hospice Charity are delighted to announce that Ebony's Dolls House has sold for £69.90, after the eBay auction ended on leap day (Monday 29 February).
Sinead English from Gravel Road and her mum Mary, spied the beautiful toy in the Charity’s Mill Road Shop last week and decided it would be perfect for Sinead's daughter, two and a half year old Elena.
Sinead says: “My Mum and I were walking past one evening, saw it in the window and thought it would be perfect for Elena. Mum wanted to buy it as a present so, as I live just around the corner, she was back there at 9.30 the next morning. We were told it was being auctioned on eBay and read about Ebony who had donated it. How lovely for Elena to have a dolls' house which previously belonged to such a caring little girl! We were even more enthusiastic about the purchase when we realised that 100% of the money will be donated to the Arthur Rank Hospice.”
If you are interested in selling a more unique and valuable item to help raise money for Arthur Rank Hospice Charity, please visit the shop on Mill Road in Cambridge. Donations will be judged on a case by case basis, but depending on the item and it’s condition the Charity may decide use their eBay shop to reach a larger market thus raising greater funds.
The story doesn't stop here either: Ebony's mum was inspired to set up an online donation page after the story was so warmly received by the local community in Soham. Many - even those who were previously strangers to the Alda family - were saying they would like to increase the donations to over £100.
