Wellcome Genome Campus launches new BioData Innovation Centre

The Wellcome Genome Campus has an exciting development lined up for this year. In 2016 the campus will open the doors on its brand new BioData Innovation Centre, an outstanding new home for innovative genomics and biodata companies.

“Supporting the delivery of our campus vision, our new Biodata Innovation Centre will enable complementary innovative genomic and biodata companies to join the campus in delivering life-changing science with the reach, scale and imagination to solve some of humanity's greatest challenges,” explains the Chief Operating Officer, Martin Dougherty.

The Wellcome Genome Campus is already home to two world-class research Institutes: the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute and the European Molecular Biology Laboratory’s European Bioinformatics Institute.  Through these Institutes, BioData Innovation Centre members will have enviable access to both science and infrastructure.

This development comes as part of a 25 year vision to cement the campus as the European hub for both leading-edge science and the very best genomics and biodata businesses.

“Through the vision we wish to build a community of aligned interests, from relevant disciplines, forming a critical mass of expertise and experience that drives forward new developments and conceives new opportunities in genomics and biodata,” says Martin Dougherty.
