Woodfines recognised in 2015 Legal 500 Directory

Woodfines Solicitors has received excellent rankings in this year’s Legal 500 directory. The UK Legal 500 is a national directory of the best law firms and lawyers, and is split into two regions covering Woodfines’ offices; the South East (covering Bedford, Milton Keynes and Sandy) and East Anglia (covering our Cambridge office).

 

South East

The firm’s Personal Tax, Trusts and Probate department was recognised as a Top Tier practice area with an “exemplary” team of lawyers.

The firm works closely with individual clients in a wide range of other areas to achieve positive outcomes including family law, personal injury matters, and disputed wills. These teams were also recognised for their expertise in the Legal 500 directory.

Woodfines’ commitment to supporting business clients through a combination of expertise and highly considered legal solutions is reflected in the strong ranking of Woodfines’ business services in this year’s directory. Its Commercial Property, Corporate & Commercial and Employment teams were all recognised. The Corporate and Commercial team, which provides legal services for a wide range of companies and owner managed businesses, were described as “prompt, professional and extremely personable”, with key solicitors Neil Gibbs and Peter Mount given glowing recommendations from clients. The Employment team was also described as “excellent”, with solicitors Andrew Buckley and the “commercially driven” Maria Gallucci both noted.

The firm’s Commercial Property department was seen as a “well-rounded practice” which has developed strongly” following a period of expansion. Department Head, Sylvia Goulding, was described as “an outstanding property lawyer”.

The firm’s Milton Keynes office also has a highly experienced team providing services for those involved in criminal and regulatory proceedings. This team was noted in this year’s Legal 500 directory for its handling of a high-profile compensation claim for wrongful imprisonment following a murder in 2000.

East Anglia

The Road Transport team has again been recognised as one of the leading legal service providers in the country for the goods, passenger and haulage sectors. Department Head, Tim Ridyard, was recognised for his national client base and “depth of knowledge”, whilst Assistant Solicitor, Tim Norris, was praised for providing sound advice”. Tim Ridyard was also named a Leading Individual in the Transport field.

Woodfines’ business teams also featured strongly in this year’s directory, with its Commercial Property, Corporate & Commercial and Employment teams all being recognised. The Commercial Property team were acknowledged as a “friendly and helpful team” who provide “a highly professional, no-nonsense service”, whilst Stephen Oliver was noted for his work with SME clients in the Corporate & Commercial team. The Employment team were also recognised as giving a “prompt, timely and proactive service”, with Nick Sayer described as “efficient and detailed in his responses”.

Woodfines’ Cambridge office family law team, led by Jackie Jessiman, has also been recognised by the Legal 500 in 2015 following a period of steady growth.

Alun Butler of the office’s Private Client team was listed as a Leading Individual for Personal Trusts, Tax and Probate services, with the team overall praised for being “friendly and approachable”which “retains its passion for looking after private clients”. Senior associate solicitors Karl Dembicki and James Marsh were recommended as “exceptionally helpful”.

The office also has a strong team supporting residential house sale and purchase, led by Chris Wingfield, who was acknowledged for his “good attention to detail”.
