Work experience placements sought for local students

Could your business offer a week's work experience to a local teenager? Cambridge Network members are urged to come forward to provide opportunities for young people to learn about the world of work.

Many students have little idea what's involved in business and want the chance to find out exactly what happens in offices, shops and laboratories. At the same time, Cambridge companies are crying out for talented people to fill a wide range of job vacancies (see the evidence on Cambridge Network's busy Recruitment Gateway jobs board).

Here is a way for local businesses to help steer young people towards careers in industry and commerce by giving them a glimpse of what it is like to work in their environment.

Form the Future is the organisation administering work placements this summer (July 11-15) for Year 10 (approximately 15 year old) students from schools like the Parkside Federation Academies.

Companies need to demonstrate that they have employer liability insurance,  a health & safety policy and a written risk assessment if there are more than five employees.

If you can offer a student a valuable insight into your business, please contact scallow@formthefuture.org.uk or sign up directly with Step Up.
