Young Street building wins another award

Anglia Ruskin University’s new Young Street building in Cambridge has received another award.

Judges at the Local Authority Building Control’s Building Excellence Awards decided that Phase 2 and 3 of the development, completed last September, was worthy of the Best Educational Building category of the East Anglian section.

Staff from Anglia Ruskin, designers Richard Murphy Architects and RG Carter, who built the development, collected the award at King's College, Cambridge.

The Young Street building contains state-of-the-art skills labs and teaching spaces for nursing and health courses as well as office space, a café and the Vision and Eye Research Unit.

Sandy Lynam, Director of Estates and Facilities at Anglia Ruskin University, said: “We are delighted that Anglia Ruskin’s newest building has won another award. The level of competition was high and it shows that we have the very highest standards when it comes to our facilities.

“It is so important that our students and staff enjoy a high-quality environment to work in and we are extremely proud of our Young Street development.”

The Young Street development also won the Best New Large Building prize at the Cambridge Forum for the Construction Industry awards in April.
