Your chance to study Scrum this spring

As well as a wide range of management development and soft skills courses, Cambridge Network's Learning Collaboration offers high quality technical training, including, during March and April, courses devoted to Scrum, an agile framework for completing complex projects.

Scrum Product Owner Certification on 11th and 12th March at PA Consulting (Cambridge Technology Centre Melbourn HERTS SG8 6DP) is a two-day, entry-level course designed to cover all the basics of Scrum.

Like the ScrumMaster Certification course (see below), the Product Owner Certification course is designed to introduce individuals to the basic principles and processes of Scrum, with particular emphasis on topics specific to the Product Owner role, such as creating and maintaining a Product Backlog, writing user stories with clear acceptance criteria, release planning and metrics, and scaling Scrum across multiple teams.

Upon completion, attendees are awarded Product Owner Certification from the Scrum Alliance.

CollabNet's two-day ScrumMaster Certification course  on April 15th and 16th provides attendees with a strong understanding of Scrum’s basic principles and processes. Designed to introduce the fundamentals of Scrum to new practitioners, the course mixes hands-on sprint simulation and lecture.

What is a ScrumMaster?

Every framework or methodology has a set of rules and processes, but the Scrum framework includes an individual dedicated to making sure they are followed: the ScrumMaster. The ScrumMaster resolves impediments that obstruct the team from making progress; assists the Product Owner in backlog prioritization and maintenance; and works to make project status and team successes visible to all stakeholders.  Although this role is distinguished from a project manager by its lack of authority, the ScrumMaster is critical to success with Scrum.

Because the course is an introduction to Scrum’s principles and processes, registration is open to all interested parties. It is not a requirement that participants be actively serving as ScrumMasters. The entire Scrum framework is taught, but particular emphasis is placed on the role of the ScrumMaster.

Upon completion, attendees are awarded ScrumMaster Certification from the Scrum Alliance.
