Cambridge Airport helps out with visitors to Duxford flying displays

Cambridge International Airport is poised to help out with visitors from mainland Europe and the UK who are visiting Duxford for its major air displays in 2014 (24/25 May; 12/13 July (Flying Legends); 13/14 September).

Duxford is no longer able to accept movements from visiting aircraft during ‘event days’, but Cambridge International Airport is instead offering discounted landing fees to any visitors arriving by air in connection with Duxford air shows.

Terry Holloway, Managing Director Cambridge Aero Club and Head of Light General Aviation at Cambridge International Airport said:  "We have a very well-equipped facility for handling light general aviation aircraft at Cambridge International Airport, which includes particularly the provision of refuelling, help with flight planning and GAR applications, as well as arranging accommodation and travel.  The Cambridge International Airport Flying Community scheme provides discounts on a number of local services for visiting pilots.

"The Airport itself is just a ten minute bus ride from the Centre of Cambridge, from where Park and Ride buses regularly serve the Imperial War Museum at Duxford.  A taxi from Cambridge International Airport to Duxford takes around 20 minutes.  We are also able to arrange discounted car hire."

Terry added: "We have had a very close relationship with the Imperial War Museum at Duxford for many years and we are delighted to be able to help with the handling of aircraft, crews and passengers in connection with the air shows.  For larger aircraft our partner company, ExecuJet, is able to able to offer aircraft handling facilities on a wide range of executive jets."
