"Ramblings" shortlisted for the Mind Media Awards

Stuart Jessup and Kate Atkin were the focus of the BBC Radio 4 Ramblings programme with Clare Balding in May this year, along with their springer spaniel Poppy. The episode about Stuart's walk around the coast of England raising awareness of mental health issues has been shortlisted for the Mind Media Awards, to be announced on 19 November 2012.

"We were delighted to have the programme feature the mental health aspects of the walk" comments Stuart, "especially as the Rablings series was about walking with dogs".  Stuart goes on to explain the important role Poppy played in opening up conversations with people during the 2600 mile, 8 month long, walk.  At one point Poppy incurred a tail injury which meant she returned home for two weeks' rest and during that time Stuart hardly spoke to anyone.

Supported by his wife Kate Atkin, who runs Cambridge-based Aspire 2 delivering training, conference talks and facilitation of events, Stuart set out in October last year.  The Ramblings recording took place on the stretch between Falmborough Head and Bridlington and the programme is available on the BBC website http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01hxpxy
