GHX WebConnect fuels healthcare efficiency at 2012 Olympics

Healthcare supply chain leader Global Healthcare Exchange (GHX) is contributing to the Summer Olympic Games in London this year. The London Organizing Committee of the Olympics and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) is using GHX WebConnect to shop and place its healthcare supplies throughout the seven-week event.

GHX WebConnect is an online tool to create purchase orders and submit them electronically. And over the next six weeks, WebConnect is the hub for bandages, sutures, dressings and myriad of other medical supplies necessary for the more than 14,700 athletes, 21,000 media and 10.8 million ticket-holders at these Olympic and Paralymic Games.

“The Olympics are an uplifting symbol of the interconnectedness of the global community,” said Bruce Johnson, president and CEO of GHX. “We are thrilled that GHX, with its Global Network of healthcare trading partners and the technology that allows them to transact accurately and efficiently, can contribute to the success and safety of the games.”

More than 5,900 provider and 10,900 supplier organizations are connected to the GHX Global Network – including approximately 42 percent of the acute care hospitals in England – to enable better patient care and billions in savings for the healthcare community. For the past eleven years GHX supply chain solutions have been deployed around the world to reduce the cost of doing business in healthcare with the mission to make it easier for GHX customers to drive cost and inefficiency out of their business processes. In the last few years, the company has eliminated more than $3B in healthcare expense.
