‘Beauty with a Purpose’ meets at Cambridge Airport

Cambridge Airport has hosted the launch of the East Anglia fundraiser for the Miss England and Miss World “Beauty with a Purpose” charity.

Five of the finalists from the East Anglian region met at Cambridge Airport yesterday (Weds) to witness the launch of the White Tie and Diamonds Ball, which will be raising money for the official Miss England and Miss World charity “Beauty with a Purpose”, which supports disadvantaged children across the world.

At the launch Terry Holloway, Deputy Chairman of Cambridge Airport, presented a voucher for a flight over Cambridge which will be one of the prizes at the ball, to be held at the Polo Club, Newmarket on Saturday 20th October 2012.

Terry Holloway said: “Cambridge Airport and Marshall of Cambridge are delighted to be providing support to this White Tie and Diamonds Ball which has the potential of raising an enormous amount of money for disadvantaged children.  It is marvellous that the Miss England and Miss World competition organisers have set themselves this huge charitable challenge and we are delighted to welcome some of the regional finalists to the Airport.”

Terry Holloway presented a voucher to Claire Chapman of the Highfield Group, the organisers of the Ball, in front of one of the training aircraft of the Cambridge Aero Club.  The prize being offered will provide an opportunity to fly in this aeroplane.

Claire Chapman said “It has always been a personal ambition of mine to host a ball which not only supports and raises awareness of a fantastic charity, but also gives other young adults in the region an opportunity to kick-start their own careers.”

The White Tie and Diamonds Ball

The final 15 local girls that have been selected to represent our area in the regional Miss England final are in full swing raising money for the official Miss England and Miss World Charity “Beauty with a Purpose” which supports disadvantaged children across the world.

Raising money for charity is the real drive behind the Miss England competition and we are delighted that our region has been selected to host the show as part of the glitzy White Tie and Diamonds Ball, organised by The Highfield Event Group Ltd, at the Polo Club, Newmarket on Saturday 205h October 2012.

Reigning Miss England Alize-Lilly Mounter visited Brent Knoll Primary School in Forest Hill, London in June to meet the children who will benefit from the funds collectively raised by all of the Miss England Contestants through the national heats held in 2012.

Brent Knoll is a school for children with language and communication difficulties and associated social and learning impairments and it was chosen as a Miss England Beauty with a Purpose fundraising recipient after the headmaster completed an application form.

The money will be used to aid the development of children at the school.  A huge amount of specialist equipment is required at the school and staff are also in desperate need of a new minibus to transport the children around and take them on school and swimming trips and other outings.  They are also hoping to build a fully functional sensory room complete with special lighting, a sound system and equipment – all of which will help with the children’s specialist development.

Our region’s finalists are:

Miss Danni McCoy – Newmarket
Miss Dionne Deaves – Cambridge
Miss Jayde Chorlton – Bury St Edmunds
Miss Karoline Edwards – Stowmarket
Miss Louise Phillips - Horringer,Bury St Edmunds

Five of our finalists will be taking part in a photo shoot at Marshalls Cambridge on Wednesday 5th September 212.  Press are invited to meet the five finalists and ask any questions.

We are excited to announce that Mark Wright from “The Only Way Is Essex” and “I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here!” and Amy Willerton, “Celebrity Model and Miss England 2012 top 5” will be attending the evening and judging on the panel.  Head Model Booker and Managing Director of Sandra Reynolds Model Agency (Norwich and London) wlll also be attending the event along with other judges.
