RealVNC heads to Telematics Munich to showcase VNC® Automotive

RealVNC is continuing its Telematics roadshow that has been to Detroit and Tokyo and will be showcasing its latest in-vehicle mobile technology at Telematics Munich in Germany later this month.

VNC Automotive can automatically detect, access and control virtually any mobile device or desktop computer from a vehicle’s touch-screen or fixed input devices such as steering wheel switches and head unit buttons or menus.

With VNC Automotive, drivers can access their mobile content, such as navigation applications, traffic updates, music libraries and internet radio stations, whilst on the move. The technology also enables cloud connectivity to a remote desktop and other cloud based applications, as well as providing a link for automotive OEMs to access vehicle data and systems from a remote location.

In addition, RealVNC will be demonstrating VNC Automotive’s extensive capabilities to implement driver safety mechanisms to restrict or prohibit access to certain functions that may cause distraction whilst driving. As a core member of the Car Connectivity Consortium, RealVNC remains committed to providing a safe and seamless experience for smartphone users in their vehicles.

VNC Automotive is the most robust and advanced standard for mobile-to-vehicle integration and continues to be widely adopted. RealVNC’s partners include some of the world’s largest automotive, infotainment, OEM and Tier 1 manufacturers including Jaguar Land Rover, RIM, Clarion, Wipro, Cybercom, Denso, STMicroelectronics, Visteon, Teleca and QNX.

“The market for connecting smartphones and vehicles continues to accelerate at a great pace and we have had tremendous Telematics shows in Detroit and Japan,” said Tom Blackie, Vice President Mobile, RealVNC. “Our VNC technology remains at the forefront of this integration and has already been adopted by many of the major consumer electronics companies and automotive manufacturers around the world. Telematics Munich provides an ideal opportunity to showcase the latest developments of VNC Automotive to a European audience.”

VNC Automotive also supports other connectivity protocols such as MirrorLink, a standard based on VNC, and Apple’s iPod Out, to provide the widest range of mobile handset coverage from a single head unit Human Machine Interface (HMI).
