Leading national law firm Mills & Reeve has advised Europe’s leading rigid plastic packaging provider RPC Group Plc on its acquisition of UK competitor Manuplastics.
Based in London, Manuplastics is a long-established leader in the design and manufacture of injection moulded plastic packaging for the UK personal care market.
With annual sales in the region of £1.1 billion, RPC has some 50 manufacturing sites across Europe and the US, with customers ranging from large multinational companies such as Unilever, Kraft, Nestlé and L'Oréal to local small and medium sized enterprises. The deal reflects part of the company’s ongoing strategy to grow shareholder value through selective consolidation in its core markets.
Natalie Wade, associate from the Norwich office at Mills & Reeve, commented: “We were delighted to work with new client RPC and their team, led by Thomas Saunderson, on the strategic acquisition of the Manuplastics group. Manuplastics provides a perfect fit in terms of building up RPC’s personal care business and is positive testament to the return of transactional activity”.
Thomas Saunderson, head of corporate development at RPC, added: “The corporate team at Mills & Reeve were proactive in lining up an extensive team of specialists led by Natalie Wade to cover the full range of deal issues. As a result they were able to provide definitive advice from experienced partners and staff rapidly as new issues emerged. On this basis the firm’s expertise versus cost proposition is compelling amongst its peers.”
