VNC Automotive allows access and control of a mobile device from a vehicle head unit or infotainment system. This gives drivers access to all their smartphone content, such as navigation applications, music libraries and internet radio stations, whilst on the move. The mobile device can be directly controlled from the infotainment system touch screen, vehicle bezel keys, steering wheel switches and by voice command, ensuring all content can be accessed safely.
7Layers, an Authorized Test Lab (ATL), supported RealVNC throughout the certification process, which included MirrorLink™ conformance and interoperability testing to validate that VNC Automotive meets with the CCC’s commitment to providing users with a safe and seamless experience of smartphone use in vehicles.
With VNC Automotive now a MirrorLink Certified™ product, RealVNC’s partners, some of the world's largest automotive, infotainment, OEM and Tier 1 manufacturers, can look forward to compatibility with MirrorLink™ specifications whilst being safe in the knowledge they are meeting the criteria set by the CCC.
MirrorLink™ certification testing in an authorized test laboratory has been applicable since January 2012, and 7Layers was one of the first labs to offer global coverage of this service. Following a successful launch, 7Layers decided to expand its test and certification services in this field and now has five Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC) authorized test laboratories that offer MirrorLink™ certification, located in the USA, Germany, Korea, China and Japan.
