RealVNC wins third Queen’s Award in three years

International Trade win for RealVNC follows previous Queen’s Awards for Enterprise in both Innovation and International Trade.

RealVNC has been singled out with its third Queen’s Awards for Enterprise in as many years, a truly remarkable accomplishment for the Cambridge-based provider of VNC® remote access and control software. This year the company has been recognised for its outstanding achievements in International Trade, following its unique double win for sustained achievements in Innovation and International Trade in 2011.

The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are the most prestigious accolades for business in the UK. The process is highly competitive with HM The Queen announcing the awards annually on the advice of the Prime Minister, who is assisted by an Advisory Committee that includes representatives from Government, industry and commerce.

RealVNC’s technology, which allows a computer screen to be remotely accessed and controlled from another device, is one of the most ubiquitous software solutions on over a billion devices worldwide. VNC is available on virtually every type of device that has a screen, making it the most widely ported
software application ever. It is now an official part of the internet, alongside web and email protocols.

This award recognises this dominance and the company’s outstanding, sustainable and continuous international influence, growth and success. RealVNC has rapidly expanded its overseas sales, with exports comprising over 90% of turnover and overseas sales growth for the three year period assessed at over 250%.

RealVNC has a diverse, international customer base with VNC users spread across over 175 countries. VNC is used by IT professionals and individuals for applications such as remote IT support, maintenance, training and remote working. VNC is the original remote access solution which RealVNC has continued to develop and drive forward with a number of market-making initiatives in mobile, consumer
electronics and automotive.

“To receive a third Queen’s Award for Enterprise in three years is a truly remarkable and outstanding achievement,” said Dr Andy Harter, CEO of RealVNC. “The award is testament to the on-going efforts of our team as we deliver continued growth in the international market. We are proud to showcase UK engineering to the rest of the world, and our innovations are now connecting not just computers but all kinds of devices including TV set-top boxes, consumer electronics and beyond that the Internet of Things.”

RealVNC collaborates with leading players in the technology industry, including Intel who integrate VNC on chips for PCs and laptops; and Google, who license VNC technology and expertise to enable remote access functionality from its Chrome products. RealVNC is also at the forefront of innovation in the automotive industry, where it is the standard for integrating smartphones with in-vehicle infotainment systems.
