eg technology works with Cellaura on fluorescent screening drug-discovery instrument

CellAura is a UK-based company with a unique drug discovery technology which allows molecular interactions to be visualised in real time at a cellular level. Their technology uses high quality fluorescent G-protein-coupled receptor ligands for molecular pharmacology and cell imaging. Cambridge-based product design and engineering consultancy eg technology is working with the team at CellAura to develop their perfusion system into a commercially viable instrument.

To date, eg has carried out several phases of work to define the instrument specification, provide conceptual CAD of the instrument and, most recently, to design and build a breadboard prototype of the fluid handling system to test and de-risk the proposed architecture and fluid-handling software.

CellAura are aiming to trial beta systems with selected partners before the end of 2012, with the first commercial units available early in 2013.
