Centre for Computing History opens this weekend

The Centre for Computing History opens in Cambridge tomorrow (Saturday 27th July).

Museum Director Jason Fitzpatrick says:  "Although there is still much more work to do, we have created a fantastic display with the limited budget available. With your support we will continue to develop displays and create new interactive exhibits in the coming months.

"The centre will be open from 10am to 5pm every day except Mondays and Tuesdays which are reserved for private bookings. We will have an interactive display of vintage computers in our foyer and you will be able to see the main display area which is now well underway. You can even come and relive the 80s by visiting our 1980s classroom, with working BBC micros for you to try your hand at programming!

"Our classroom is also available for School bookings where we can show students the fundamentals of programming.

"Some of the computers on display include the Acorn BBC Micro, Sinclair ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, IBM PC, Apple Macintosh and more ...

"Come and speak with the people involved in the project and find out more about our plans and aspirations for the future.

"The entry fee is discounted until the 1st October while we develop the displays fully. The current entry fee is £5 for adults and £4 for children between 5 and 16. Under 5's are free. A family ticket is available for £15 for up to two adults and two children.

"We are also developing an annual membership scheme giving you unlimited visits to the museum along with additional benefits. Watch this space!"
