Sagentia founder Gordon Edge dies at 76

Gordon Edge, the founder of Scientific Generics - now Sagentia - has died, aged 76.

Professor Edge was a leading light in Cambridge technology companies, including Cambridge Consultants and PA Consulting, for many years.

Gordon Edge set up PA's global technology centre in Cambridge to be part of an already successful PA Consulting Group; PA Consulting had been founded in 1943 to help the UK's manufacturing industry by bringing engineering and science brains to solve some of the most challenging problems faced.

PA now has more than 400 people based in Cambridge.

Dave Smith, who leads PA's technology work and knew Gordon when he was CEO of Roke Manor, comments: “One of the great pleasures of moving to Cambridge to head up the PA labs was the chance to catch up with Gordon, who had given me advice in his usual charming and entertaining way for years.

"It is a sad loss, he was a towering figure amongst those who develop technology in the UK."
