RealVNC showcases latest tech at CeBIT 2014

RealVNC, the original developer and provider of VNC® remote access and control software, will be demonstrating its latest technology at CeBIT in Hannover from 10th to 14th March 2014. Its new cloud offering, deskhop - an application that enables Facebook users to share their computer screen with friends - will take center stage.

Designed to be used by anyone with a Facebook account (about a billion people), deskhop allows Facebook users to quickly and simply share their entire computer screen with a Facebook friend, an invaluable tool for the technical wizard who supports friends and family with their IT issues. deskhop fans are finding more uses every day, including collaboration, training and sharing private information. deskhop uses RealVNC’s VNC Cloud Services, part of its VNC Helpdesk SDK that offers a new class of VNC that is even easier to use. It does not have the firewall and port-forwarding requirements of traditional peer-to-peer VNC products and is packaged as a software development kit providing ISVs and developers with the capability to easily integrate a remote access and control solution in their own products.

RealVNC will also be demonstrating VNC Viewer Plus, the result of a collaboration with Intel, as an example of how VNC technology can be embedded in third party products. Computers with particular Intel® Core™ vPro™ processors enjoy the benefit of a VNC-compatible Server embedded directly onto the chip, enabling permanent remote access and control. VNC Viewer Plus is able to connect even if the computer is powered off, or has no functioning operating system. As the only organization able to offer a commercial license to embed VNC technology in third-party products, RealVNC is encouraging other technology partners to enhance their product offerings with the addition of remote access and control software.

“We are very excited to be attending CeBIT for the first time in what will be a very exciting year for British companies attending,” said Adam Greenwood Byrne, Vice President of Hosted Services. “This is an opportunity for us to showcase how versatile VNC technology is and that it applies to so many devices, not just computers but also set-top boxes, medical devices such as MRI scanners and trucks, to name a few examples. We are working with partners in every industry and technology partners are finding new use cases every day.”

The UK is the Partner Country for CeBIT in 2014 and RealVNC will be part of the UK Partner Country Pavilion in Hall 6 stand C44.
