A new computer screen sharing app from RealVNC is now available for iPad and iPhone

RealVNC launches deskhop on the App Store - its computer screen sharing app for Facebook friends.

RealVNC, the original developer and provider of VNC® remote access and control software, has announced that deskhop, its recently released computer screen sharing Facebook application, is now available as a free app for iPhone and iPad from the App Store.

Launched in September 2013, deskhop has already picked up tens of thousands of users worldwide. Designed to be used by anyone with a Facebook account (about a billion people), the app is an effective tool for the technical wizard who supports friends and family with IT issues. deskhop fans are finding more uses every day, including collaboration, training, gaming and sharing information.

“deskhop has been a huge success since the launch,” said Dr Andy Harter, CEO and Founder of RealVNC. “More and more people are using Facebook on their mobile devices so it made sense for us to bring the app to iPad and iPhone users providing the option of accessing a computer whilst on the move.”

Powered by VNC, deskhop works by prompting two people wanting to share screens to temporarily run a small software program on their devices. Once established the encrypted connection allows one user to control the other’s screen. When one party disconnects, temporary software programs are automatically deleted from computers, leaving no trace. The app ensures that the screen owner always have priority control of the mouse, therefore can disconnect from the other person at any time.

To start using, simply search for deskhop on the App Store, Google or Facebook.
