RealVNC will be showcasing its MirrorLink™ solution which features multiple simultaneous videos streaming to several rear entertainment screens. The technology can display navigation apps from a mobile device to a screen by the driver in the front of the car, whilst movies or games are displayed to screens in the rear seats for passengers, all running from the same mobile device. The technology also allows multiple mobile devices to be connected to the vehicle head unit at the same time and so that content, such as music, from each of the devices can be accessed through the central unit.
With safety of the upmost importance within the industry the technology allows the mobile device to be controlled from the infotainment touch screen, vehicle bezel keys, steering wheel switches, or by voice command. Screen blanking options are also available, enabling certain applications to be blocked so that they are not accessible by the driver whilst on the move.
