eLife is delighted to announce the newest members of the Board of Reviewing Editors (BRE). They bring strong expertise in each of their areas and will help maintain the efficient and constructive editorial process that eLife is known for.
The BRE is responsible for reviewing articles, at the request of the senior editors, and recruiting additional reviewers as needed. Once reviews are in, the BRE and reviewers consult with one another to finalise their decision and form a consolidated set of comments for the author -- which is what sets the eLife’s editorial process apart. Kang Shen, who joins as an eLife editor for neuroscience from Stanford University, US said:
