Cyber London: Europe’s first cyber security accelerator programme and business incubator

The launch of ‘Cyber London’ (Cylon), Europe’s first business accelerator programme and incubator space dedicated to developing and supporting cyber security startups, was announced today by a team of experienced investors and entrepreneurs.

The complex security challenges of the Internet will affect us all. The safeguarding of computer networks, the protection of critical information and defence of personal privacy are all essential in the smart, connected, digital world. New technological threats are evolving regularly, leading to novel opportunities for businesses to deliver innovative technologies for rigorous and scalable cyber security to combat them.

Building on the United Kingdom’s world class heritage in computing and information security technology, from Babbage to Bletchley Park, CyLon combines a business acceleration programme and a physical ‘incubator space’. A planned curriculum and experienced volunteer mentors will help a new generation of entrepreneurs to build businesses around cyber security technology with global applications. CyLon also serves as a bridge between the public and private sector, linking key centres of UK cyber
security expertise such as the Bristol/Cheltenham/Malvern cluster with London and the South East, where many international corporate clients and business partners are based.

Established as a not-for-profit enterprise by a team of cyber security practitioners, entrepreneurs and venture capital investors, CyLon receives financial and in-kind support from venture capital investor Amadeus Capital Partners, global investment manager Winton, and international law firms Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP and Fried Frank.
