Cambridgeshire business park awarded for fundraising efforts

A Cambridge based business park who raised more than enough money to fund a day’s care at a local children’s hospice were today (Monday 23 February) presented with an award for their outstanding fundraising efforts.

Granta Park in Great Abington was awarded a plaque by CEO Graham Butland from East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) in recognition of the park’s sterling efforts raising more than £6,700.

The funds were raised when Granta Park organised their first Santa run in December 2014, encouraging companies on the park to enter teams. The event saw 250 people sign up, raising much needed fund for the local charity through registrations, sponsorship and company match funding.

EACH were so impressed by both the amount raised at the park’s inaugural event and the enthusiasm shown by the organisers from the business park, the companies in the area and participants, they have presented them with an award for outstanding fundraising to be displayed in the parks reception area.

Graham Butland, EACH Chief Executive, said: “We are always so grateful to local groups and businesses who club together to support EACH. Granta Park have raised a phenomenal amount, particularly given that this was the first year they held a Santa run - it sounds like it was great fun! We would like to thank them for their efforts, and I can assure them the money raised will be put to good use.”

The money raised was more than enough to enter the park into the EACH Pay for a Day scheme – which encourages groups to raise the £5,300 needed every day to keep services at an EACH hospice open free of charge for children, young people and their families who live with life-threatening conditions.

The allotted day for Granta Park to sponsor to Milton hospice is Monday 23rd February.

Doug Cuff, Director at Biomed Trust and Granta Park, said: “BioMed Realty Trust and Granta Park are proud to see so many Santas and staff from across the Park join in to support the amazing work being done for children and their families by the East Anglia’s Children’s Hospice. It was a fun event for all of us to do our small part to help the children of our community.”

There are already plans in place to host a Santa run in 2015 at Granta Park.
