Sky News, The Independent, Lib Dems and Scope join Sookio Masterclass

The next event in the celebrated Sookio Masterclass series takes place on Thursday 26th March. As the pre-election continues to build, guests from Sky News, The Independent and Scope, plus Liberal Democrat MP Julian Huppert share their thoughts on politics and social media.

With things hotting up ahead of the General Election, the first Sookio Masterclass for 2015 looks at how social media is used in politics and people in the public eye to share their values with a wider audience.

How are politicians and their parties using social media to help them engage with the electorate more effectively? In what way does it change our perception of those in power (or desperate to get it)? And how much does fear of making a gaffe affect the way they tweet?

But what about the people who provide the coverage; how do they keep up with the fast pace of rolling news and ensure their tweets are accurate and impartial? How do they use social media to find new angles on a story? Does social media mean a more diverse range of views are being heard - or is the minority getting drowned out by the mob?

This event is not just for political junkies! As business owners and individuals using social media we can all learn from hearing about the challenges others face, and pick up tips and tricks which will shape our own approach to communicating online.

As with all Sookio Masterclass events, the people on the panel are all expert practitioners of social media. They're not people who call themselves gurus or have a book to flog, but they use social platforms day in day out, and will be able to offer insights from a very unique perspective.
