What sort of entries win?

Three Cambridge-based companies picked up Innovation Awards last year. CCS Ltd won the Communications category for their self-organising backhaul system. The system enables cost-effective small cell deployment in a flexible, organic way, offering a solution to the increasing demand for capacity on mobile networks.

Audio Analytic were named winner of the Consumer Electronics Technology category for “The future of sound” – an intelligent software system that recognises a broad range of sounds from crying babies to breaking glass to the elderly in need and can easily be embedded into home automation systems and IP cameras.

The Navigation & Surveillance Communication judges chose Aveillant Ltd to win that category for their Holographic Radar™. This is a new, real time 3D surveillance radar that minimises the amount of spectrum required by surveillance radar, and also solves the problem of wind turbine clutter on Air Traffic Control (ATC) primary surveillance radars.
