RealVNC, the original developer and provider of VNC® remote access and control software has today announced the launch of its VNC Software Development Kit (SDK) for use with VNC Cloud.
RealVNC launches VNC SDK to democratise remote access
VNC SDK 1.0.1 is now available to download for free from RealVNC’s new dedicated developer portal (https://developer.realvnc.com).
VNC technology facilitates remote access from one device to another over a local area network, VPN or the Internet. The SDK will provide developers with the tools to integrate remote access with existing software on Windows, Linux, Mac, iOS, Android and HTML5-compatible browser-based platforms.
The SDK works together with VNC Cloud, which provides secure connections between networks with different security characteristics, brokering connections between two devices and relaying the connection where necessary e.g. if a firewall or NAT is in the way. It provides a secure means of connectivity for devices on networks that might otherwise block incoming remote connections. The VNC Cloud is scalable and reliable, suitable for large-scale use where availability and security are of paramount importance.
Launched on the new developer portal (https://developer.realvnc.com), the new SDK will also come with other useful tools including sample code, to help developers get up and running quickly, and detailed technical documentation.
Adam Greenwood Byrne, Vice President at RealVNC commented: “We have nearly 15 years of experience working with organisations such as Google, Intel and IBM. We have integrated VNC into everything from MRI scanners to set-box boxes and even directly onto silicon. We’ve solved the complicated problems that aren’t obvious until you start trying to write this stuff for yourself. In the VNC SDK, we distil our many years of expertise to reduce your time to market for a feature that is no longer nice-to-have, it’s expected – remote control.”
He continues: “The launch of our new SDK, alongside the developer portal, will empower the next generation of developers to innovate and create solutions to real every-day challenges and problems.”
RealVNC’s software, VNC, is used by hundreds of millions of people worldwide in every sector of industry, government and education. VNC is the original remote access software with a wide range of applications. The technology supports an unrivalled mix of desktop and mobile platforms and can be embedded in third-party products with a commercial license. www.realvnc.com
