VLSI trail blazer joins Californian endurance event

Keen runner John West, from VLSI Research, is heading Stateside this month to take part in the Tahoe Rim Trail 55K Endurance Run to raise funds for Carers Trust Cambridgeshire.

The race will take place in the heat of Nevada so John has recently taken the opportunity to get some practice for the challenging conditions by training in the Arizonan desert.

The endurance run is over a 34-mile course on high elevation alpine and sub-alpine forest trails and dirt roads in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The trail is located on the northeast side of Lake Tahoe and the highest point of the event is just below the 9,214-foot Snow Valley Peak.

John’s run takes place on 18th July and he is hoping to raise much-needed funds for charity Carers Trust Cambridgeshire who support family carers by. offering flexible, professional respite care to both adult and children. Three out of five people will be a carer at some point in their lives.

Catching up with John on completion of a local marathon during his training, he commented “Three out of five people will be a carer at some point in their lives. I am keen to promote awareness of family carers and the valuable work of CTC”.
