Arthur Rank Hospice Charity appoints its first Chief Executive

The Arthur Rank Hospice Charity announced today that it has appointed its first full-time Chief Executive, Dr Lynn Morgan. Dr Morgan has moved from the East of England Development Agency, where she was Director of Business and Enterprise, but comes with considerable experience of the charitable sector.

For many years she was the regional manager of the body which distributes Lottery funds to charities across the region, and has previously been a volunteer herself as a trustee for Centre 33 and a school governor at Parkside Community College .

Dr Morgan is attached to Manchester Business School where she successfully completed a PhD in the field of organisational psychology.

Stuart Evans, Chairman of the Charity’s Trustees said ‘We have been reviewing the future of our Charity in the context of changes taking place in the National Health Service and the latest thinking on how best to deliver End Of Life Care in Cambridgeshire. We believe this gives the Charity an opportunity to move on, and increase the valuable work that it does.”

Stuart Evans added ‘The Charity has provided much needed support to the Arthur Rank Hospice to enhance the quality of end of life care at Arthur Rank House.  We have a fantastic fundraising team, and an enthusiastic and dedicated team of volunteers and we simply could not provide the level of support that we offer without them.

"However we believe now is the right time to develop our strategy for the future, build on the excellent work to date and, where appropriate, access additional funding.  Our plans will be developed in close consultation with our NHS and Trust Colleagues and in this way we think we can do even more to help patients and their families at one of the most difficult times of their lives. Our new Chief Executive will help us to achieve this goal”.

Liz Webb, Matron of Arthur Rank House said “We are very grateful for all the support  that the Charity has given to the Arthur Rank Hospice over the years and for the positive way our organisations work together. We are very pleased that the Charity now has a full time Chief Executive and is keen to develop a strategy which will help us increase the level of support we are able to offer, and enhance the environment our patients experience.”

Arthur Rank Hospice Charity provides financial and volunteer support to the NHS Arthur Rank Hospice, which serves the people of Cambridgeshire. The team of 8 employees and over 200 volunteers successfully raise over £1Mn per year.

Lynn Morgan can be contacted on or on 07818 035863.

Arthur Rank Hospice Charity supports people in Cambridgeshire living with an advanced serious illness or a life-limiting condition and those who need end-of-life care. Our ‘Outstanding’ services are provided free of charge to patients and their families.

We care for more than 4,100 patients each year at our Hospice in Cambridge, the Alan Hudson Day Treatment Centre in Wisbech and in patients’ own homes via the Arthur Rank Community Team. This care supports people to improve their quality of life and fulfil their end of their life choices.

It will cost £10.5 million in 2021/2022 to run our services, which are provided free of charge to patients and their loved ones. We have currently secured £6.98 million from the NHS, meaning that £3.52 million needs to be raised through donations, fundraising activities and trading. We are extremely grateful to our local community for the continual dedication, commitment and generosity they show in supporting us to meet this target.
