42 Technology goes for green with dedicated cleantech consultant
Bruce Lin has more than 10 years’ experience in alternative energy R&D and is also well-known as a contributor to international cleantech conferences. Under his guidance, 42T plans to target a wider range of clients in developing the commercial potential of low carbon technologies, as well as helping them exploit sustainable design to introduce more energy- and materials-efficient processes and products.
“We are delighted that Bruce has joined us to take charge of our fast-growing cleantech consulting and development activity. 42T has already helped a number of large multinationals, as well as smaller start-ups introduce a range of market-winning products including: solar capture systems, more energy-efficient boilers and smart metering enabling consumers to monitor energy consumption in real time. Bruce will be instrumental in further strengthening our skills base, identifying key opportunities and building on our existing track record in sustainable design,” said Howard Biddle, managing director of 42T.
Before taking up his current position, Bruce was head of systems engineering at Cambridge-based CMR Fuel Cells. His other industrial experience includes working as an independent consultant and as an R&D team leader at Ballard Power Systems, where he was involved in improving the freeze start capability of automotive fuel cells enabling them to start even when full of ice.
He has a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Princeton University, US; is chartered as a professional engineer in Canada; and is lead author on several key patents in the alternative energy sector. In additional to his engineering skills, Bruce is well known for his encyclopaedic knowledge of random facts and in 2006 was a contestant and winner in “Jeopardy!”, the American television quiz programme.
