Focus on Cambridgeshire – RiverRhee Consulting Newsletter - February 2012

RiverRhee Consulting was established nearly three years ago with the goal of not only helping business teams in general to improve the way they work, but also to focus on those in the Cambridgeshire area. RiverRhee Consulting was established nearly 3 years ago with the goal of not only helping business teams in general to improve the way they work, but also to focus on those in the Life Sciences, Business Support groups such as Library & Information Management, and in the Cambridgeshire area.

So we’re particularly delighted about a couple of events that we will be running in the coming weeks.  So much so that we focused the recent edition of our bi-monthly newsletter on Cambridgeshire!

Cambridge Awards Week and ‘engineered serendipity’

Cambridge Awards Week will be taking place from 19th-23rd March and is an annual event, which aims to raise the profile of Cambridgeshire Businesses and promote the area as a good place to do business.  Cambridge News and Business Weekly are responsible for 2 business award presentation evenings during the week.  The event is also being promoted by Granta Park (one of Cambridgeshire’s major Science Parks), One NucleusCambridge Wireless and Cambridge Network.

We received the ‘go-ahead’ to run what will be a ‘wrap-up’ event for the week.  It will build on the theme of ‘engineered serendipity’: how Science Parks like Granta Park and events such as these can bring businesses together to share their knowledge and insights to develop and enhance customer – supplier and collaborative relationships, and the way they work in general.  It will also provide a taster of the course that RiverRhee offers through One Nucleus: Smart working for business growth and innovation. More details of our event are available on the One Nucleus website.

Cambridge Network

Cambridge Network’s mission is “to link like-minded people from business and academia to each other and to the global high technology community for the benefit of the Cambridge region”.  One of the ways in which the network supports this mission is through The Learning Collaboration’s shared learning programme.   Members are being given the opportunity to ‘taste’ a potential new course from RiverRhee Consulting during March: An introduction to Lean and Six Sigma.  We’re looking forward to helping delegates discover how Lean and Six Sigma principles and methodologies could help them improve the work of their teams.  Although the taster is a members’ only event, the hope is that it will lead to a full 1-day workshop, which will be open to the wider Cambridge Network.

The origins of the River Rhee

People often ask where the name ‘RiverRhee’ comes from: it is in fact one of the tributaries of the River Cam.  We have a connection with a historian who has been writing some fascinating blogs on the subject.  Links to his blogs can be found on the RiverRhee Home Page.

A footnote

We’ve been updating our case studies on the work that we’ve been doing.  This always takes a little time, as we need the consent of the organisations involved to describe something of what we did with them, and also to quote individuals’ feedback.  However we do now have some new case studies, which you can view through the RiverRhee Consulting Case Studies page.  We’ll add more as we can…
