Marshall Motor Group offers warranty to its MG Rover customers

21-04-2005

Marshall Motor Group has been monitoring closely the developing situation with MG Rover and is deeply saddened by the collapse of the company with which Marshall has been so closely associated for more than 85 years.

On Friday 8th April, MG Rover was formally placed into administration and the business closed. One of Marshall Motor Group's greatest concerns with this situation is the effect on its customers, whose original MG Rover warranties are no longer valid, despite what has been said by some people to the contrary.

Marshall Motor Group is, therefore, delighted to announce that it will be writing to all of its MG Rover customers, who bought their cars from Marshall, and offering them a Marshall Care warranty, free of charge, to replace the balance of their original MG Rover warranty, provided that their car was bought from Marshall, is within the MG Rover warranty mileage limits and has been and will be properly maintained in accordance with the manufacturer's schedules and warranty requirements. This new warranty cover will be provided at Marshall Motor Group's expense.

Roger Knight, Chief Executive of Marshall Motor Group commented: 'The Marshall Group has a long established reputation for looking after its customers and, when the news of MG Rover broke, our first concern was for the effect it would have on our many thousands of customers. As a strong, privately owned business, I am delighted that we are able to make this decision to buy warranties and to provide these to our customers at our expense.

'MG Rover has been making good, reliable cars for some years now and we want our customers to be happy with their car and with their original decision to buy from Marshall.'

Marshall Motor Group is one of the largest privately owned motor dealer groups in the country with 1,750 employees in 42 dealerships representing 16 different vehicle manufacturers including: Jaguar, Land Rover, Volvo, Peugeot, Vauxhall, Chrysler Jeep, Nissan, Seat, Honda, Toyota, Citroen, Mitsubishi, Skoda, DAF, LDV and MG Rover.

Marshall Motor Group has three MG Rover dealerships, one each in Cambridge, Peterborough and Bedford. Since the news first broke about MG Rover, Marshall Motor Group has continued to sell new and used MG Rover cars from its large stocks, on the back of a good reputation for quality, reliability and value for money. All these cars are being sold with Marshall Care warranties.

Unlike some retailers, Marshall Motor Group remains committed to MG Rover product and is happy and willing to take MG Rover cars in part exchange.

Marshall Motor Group is also willing to help other MG Rover car owners, whose warranties are now void, by offering to them Marshall Care warranties with a 25% discount off normal retail prices, subject to the warranty criteria being met.
