Awards mark a safe centenary performance from Marshall

06-07-2009

As the centenary year for the Marshall Group of Companies progresses, the RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards served to confirm another outstanding safety performance from the organisation.

The achievements of the companies within the group were recognised at the RoSPA Awards Ceremony at the Metropole Hilton Hotel at the NEC in Birmingham.

Marshall Aerospace were presented with their fourth consecutive Gold Medal Award for Occupational Health and Safety to mark the consistently high standards of Safety that they have achieved.

They were also joined by representatives of Marshall Land Systems’ companies at the Awards Ceremony. Marshall Specialist Vehicles were presented with their third consecutive Gold Medal Award and this year Marshall Vehicle Engineering from Mildenhall joined the proud team of representative winners for the presentation of a Silver Award in recognition of their first submission for these prestigious safety awards. The group shown above consists of members of every part of the Marshall Safety Management Spectrum, underlining the team approach.

These awards underline the absolute commitment that Marshall has given to driving accidents out of their workplaces through the application of highly effective Safety Management Systems, coupled with a comprehensive Safety Training Programme to ensure that the risks associated with their business undertakings are properly managed.

The awards were presented by Lord Jordan of Bournville and following the Awards Ceremony, the Marshall representatives had the opportunity to visit and explore the Health & Safety Exhibition at the NEC before enjoying an evening of entertainment at the Award Winners Gala Dinner in the Kings Suite of the Metropole Hilton Hotel.

The combined achievements of the personnel involved with the management of Health & Safety at Marshall should certainly evoke a sense of pride and achievement during this Centenary year. This is because, over the last decade, the unfaltering commitment by Marshall to ensuring safety in their workplaces has resulted in a huge reduction in total accidents.

Even though the track record is extremely commendable, there is no time for complacency, because Marshall are fully committed to continuous improvement within their safety management systems and the ethos is that no accidents are acceptable and thus we must aim to eradicate their occurrences wherever possible.
