Granta Park staff join together to celebrate jubilee

Granta Park staff exchanged white coats and suits for red, white and blue outfits for an hour or two last week to get together on the science park’s cricket pitch for a Jubilee picnic.

Staff from companies including One Nucleus, Intergence, MedImmune, PPD and TWI got into the spirit with red, white and blue outfits and union flags to enjoy a picnic as well as raise money for two charities. A book stall run by Tracy Thomas of Granta Park Estate Office raised £50 for Granta Park’s biodiversity group and PPD raised money for the Woodland Trust, which is creating 60 new woods created to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, with a cake sale.

Says Granta Park Estate Director Roz Bird: “It was great to see everyone out on the cricket pitch at the same time, which created a wonderful celebratory atmosphere. The area is well used but not usually by everyone at once and the consensus was ‘we must arrange more of these’.”

The next event on the cricket pitch will be the rounders final in July. Volleyball and a 5-a-side football tournament are also planned this summer.
