Arthur Rank Hospice Charity now regional centre for training in The Gold Standards Framework

Arthur Rank Hospice Charity (ARHC) and The Gold Standards Framework (GSF) were pleased to host a launch event last week as they explained how they will be working together to deliver the GSF Programme to East Anglia.

The hospice, which is the new Cambridge based Regional Centre for the GSF, believes that providing training, education and support for those involved in delivering palliative and end of life care is a priority and, as specialists with multi-disciplinary expertise, is ideally placed to deliver the GSF Programme.

Six workshops make up the training programme, which also includes access to the virtual learning zone, helping to cascade learning across the organisation. Care homes then apply for accreditation against twenty quality standards. The first programme begins in September and sessions will be delivered jointly by ARHC and the national GSF team at the hospice’s Mill Road site in Cambridge.

Barbara Walker from The GSF national team spoke to representatives from Care and Residential homes, as well as nurses and palliative care professionals in the Education Room at Arthur Rank House, answering questions and detailing the benefits of participating in the programme.

Kay Hardwick, Education Team Lead at Arthur Rank Hospice Charity, adds: “It was inspiring to listen to Barbara share her experiences of delivering GSF and how it has benefitted patients and staff in Care and Residential Homes. The programme helps organisations to evidence the good care they are providing and build on this. ARHC is delighted to be able to offer the programme locally”.

Arthur Rank Hospice is offering limited places to interested professionals for the first intake in September: the deadline to register your interest is 10th September 2015. Costs are staggered and dependent on the size of the Care Home.
