Woodfines solicitor appointed as Panel Deputy

Nigel Ashton, Solictor and Partner at Woodfines Solicitors, has been appointed by the Office of the Public Guardian as one of only 68 panel deputies in England and Wales.

 

Panel deputies are specialist individuals selected by the Court of Protection under the Mental Capacity Act 2005 to oversee and manage the interests of individuals who have sadly lost their lost mental capacity, and have neither a power of attorney in place nor any family or friends suitable to manage their finances and welfare. 

Over 900 people applied for the posts. After an extensive review process, Nigel was successful in his application.

Commenting on his appointment Mike Cox, Head of Woodfines’ Private Client team, said: “This is an outstanding achievement. Nigel’s undoubted ability and enthusiasm has been duly recognised by this appointment and is an indication of the firm’s depth of expertise in this area of law.”

Nigel who lives in Orwell,  is a member of both the Law Society and the national organisation, Solicitors for the Elderly.
