Headway Cambridgeshire receives generous donation from Ely-Hereward Rotary Club

The Ely-Hereward Rotary Club made a generous donation of £500 to Headway Cambridgeshire at their evening meeting last week. This amount represents part of the proceeds, shared with another local charity, of one of their recent events.

The Ouse Washes Experience, a community fundraising event organised by the Ely-Hereward Rotary Club took place on 20 September 2015 at a location in the Ouse Washes area. The Walk, Run, Cycle event gave participants the chance to raise funds for charity while taking part in their favourite activities.

The organisers worked very hard in arranging, promoting and staging the event and Headway really appreciates the community effort that went into this fundraising endeavour.

The charity says:"We were pleased to be invited to meet members of the Ely-Hereward Rotary Club, and to give a talk on the work that the charity carries out across Cambridgeshire. At the same time, we received a cheque, presented by Janet Porter, President of Ely-Hereward Rotary Club".

Kate Ward of Headway Cambridgeshire gave a talk, explaining the unique and individual needs of our clients: adults who have suffered a brain injury and their families who are often coping with changed circumstances. The club members showed a lot of interest in the work of the charity.

Kate said: “It really was a pleasure to meet this lovely group of people and talk about our work and to thank them for the donation. We really appreciate the support shown when fundraising is carried in the community by a group of committed people.

"On behalf of the staff and clients at Headway Cambridgeshire, we wish to say a very big Thank You to the members of The Ely-Hereward Rotary Club."
