WaveFX films at 'Motown the Musical' London launch event

The West End production of Motown the Musical opened this month at the Shaftesbury Theatre, featuring the music and lyrics from the legendary Motown catalogue and book by Motown founder Berry Gordy.

WaveFX was commissioned by Tiger Films to supply the production equipment and service to film and live stream the red carpet event direct to the Telegraph's website.

Jamie at WaveFX commented: “This was technically a challenging event, involving building a full outside broadcast facility in a back room on the 3rd floor of the theatre. Over 1km of cable was laid to live mix four cameras, pre-made videos and instant replays – oh and it was raining!!”

The Supremes star Mary Wilson joined Smokey Robinson and Berry Gordy at this treble a celeb packed press night. Watch the highlights on YouTube.

Rob Hill, Technical lead for WaveFX, commented: “Surprisingly, securing a fast internet feed for the stream in central London was a real struggle; the pro-active team at RockIT Networks quickly ruled out a satellite on the roof and 4G, pulling it out of the bag by bartering with a local shop owner to rent a fast connection for the day.”

Oggi Tomic, WaveFX videographer at WaveFX,: said “We've heard it through the grapevine.” (apologises, cheap pun)
