'Play Safe, Stay Safe' talk - helping children avoid online predators

Lorin LaFave’s son Breck Bednar loved gaming, but in 2014 he was groomed, lured to a meeting, then murdered by an online predator at the age of just 14. This Thursday (14 July, 6.30pm) Lorin comes to Cambridge's Centre for Computing History to give her personal account - and to talk about how to play safely.

A reconstruction of the tragic and horrifying events that led to Breck's death was broadcast on BBC3's 'Murder Games: The Life and Death of Breck Bednar'.

Lorin set up the Breck Foundation to raise awareness of online grooming, and show youngsters how to play safe. This presentation provides an opportunity to hear Lorin give her personal account of online grooming.

This is a FREE event, but you must book your place online here.

Please note this event is being filmed.

This event is part of the Centre's Viva Computer! festival.  Viva Computer! is a Heritage Lottery funded project to set up a multimedia archive and festival exhibition.  It aims to capture and communicate the magic of the computing industry’s heritage and history of innovation, with a focus on Cambridge’s unique position within it.
