WaveFX films and webcasts live from San Francisco

Cambridge based video and webcasting company WaveFX continues to grow its international client base by streaming live from the offices of Al Jazeera in San Francisco.

As part of a series of global webcasts, First Draft News approached WaveFX to stream from the Guardian in London, The New York Times and the US arm of Al Jazerra. The two-hour long presentations offer journalists tools and techniques for verifying footage and imagery from social media channels.

The WaveFX team travels incredibly light, with a team of two packing a live stream unit, two HD cameras, audio mixer and several radio microphones.

Jamie, streaming technician at WaveFX, commented: “Our solution is rock solid, portable and incredibly cost effective, which means 90% of the time it’s cheaper to fly us round the world than use local crew.”

Webcasting events are at an all-time high. Previously considered an eco-friendly “nice to have” add-on, streaming really is now the norm, allowing remote viewers the ability to share files and interact by asking questions and taking part in real-time polls.

WaveFX has been at the forefront of webcasting technology, creating its own micro-site solution for clients. These micro-sites are fully customisable to match clients' branding and can be password protected if needed. View an example here http://yourname.webcastlive.co.uk/
